System

System covers the host: install, updates, and health. Network audio sinks are first-class outputs — list them under I/O (and the sinks API); bind them for spatial under Control → Audio → Spatial Layouts.

Install

Community Free installers (1.0.190) are live on Download. Platform detect links the matching CDN asset for your OS — use that page rather than inventing alternate hosts.

After install:

  1. Launch the host (Windows/macOS: Setup/DMG; Linux: extract the tarball and run ./BPShowServer — no install.sh in the Linux package).
  2. Open the UI at http://localhost:7474 (port 7474).
  3. Confirm Overview reports healthy on Default. Blue Lamp — Theater Show is not preloaded — build or load it later in Getting Started if you want that sample path.
  4. Walk Getting Started Default-first (01 → install honesty, 03 → build GO/STOP and cartwall openers if no sample; Blue Lamp Theater sample pages House / Bits).

Updates

Apply updates from System when the channel offers them. Keep a known-good show export before major bumps if you are mid-season.

Sinks and network

  • List network audio devices under I/O → Devices / Integrations, and via GET /api/v1/audio/sinks (see I/O · Network audio sinks and API / MCP overview).
  • For spatial binding, use Control → Audio → Spatial LayoutsAdd SpeakerAudio OutputSelect output… — there is no separate System sink editor for that bind.
  • Local Pulse = demo-box validation only. Production story = network audio device.
  • Lighting endpoints (Twinkly + WLED, Art-Net/sACN) should remain visible on Overview’s I/O strip when online.

Health

Watch CPU, memory, and network. A headless cartwall-SFX→network-audio-device box should stay boring: if health flaps, fix the host before debugging cue logic. Common first-timer failures: Troubleshooting.

What System is not

  • Not a Cloud signup surface on this site.
  • Not a home for legacy Timecode / DMX / Soundscape utility branding — those folded into the ShowServer suite story.
  • Not the spatial sink picker — that is Add Speaker → Audio Output under Spatial Layouts.
